Fuits and Vegetables Boost Brain Power!
67Fruits and Vegetables Improve Cognitive Ability
A recent study done at the Institute of Biochemical and Molecular Biology In Dusseldorf, Germany found a positive correlation between the intake of fruits and vegetables, and cognitive ability.
The subjects ranged in age from 45-102. Those who had a high intake of fresh fruits and vegetables showed higher levels of brain performance, less dementia, and higher levels of healthy antioxidants in the body.
While the study focused on an older population, the findings could apply to younger people as well.
The recommendation of the researchers was to develop a lifestyle habit of eating lots of fruits and vegetables beginning in early childhood.
Another study at the University of Minnesota indicates older children and teens are eating less than the recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables.
While girls have higher consumption levels than boys, children of both sexes are suffering from the effects if an inadequate diet. Their findings showed eating healthy amounts of fruits and vegetables could actually prevent future and chronic diseases.
Since a healthy mind needs a healthy body to function well, doesn’t it make sense to develop good dietary habits?
